On the evening of March 19, invited by Nassau County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum, over 150 Nassau County residents celebrated Nowruz, the Persian New Year, at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola. The event included a Haft Sin Nowruz ceremonial table, a musical performance, and poetry readings. SHAI sponsored traditional Nowruz refreshments including fresh and dried fruits, nuts, and pastries.
