October was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.  At an event hosted by SHAI & Ahavat Shalom Synagogue and organized by Shahruz Shahery, Dr. Danny Benasher, an oncologist at North Shore University Hospital, presented as guest speaker.  Dr. Benasher gave a lecture and slide presentation followed by questions and answers, covering a range of breast cancer topics, including statistics, screening modalities, staging, genetics, and treatment options.
