SHAI Young Families is dedicated to providing programming and chessed opportunities for the whole family. Directed and founded by board member Erika Goldstein-Kashi in 2015, this division gathers young Persian families outside their synagogue and school obligations, and has brought together families living in Queens, Manhattan, Nassau County, and throughout the metropolitan area, serving as a bridge between our Long Island and New York City families. Through partnerships with organizations like the Persian Jewish Center of Manhattan, Park East Synagogue, the Moise Safra Center, WIZO, and Hineni Young Families, participants enjoy family events and programs such as the annual Fall Festival at White Post Farms, Purim celebrations, family Chanukah parties, Chanukah Chessed programs, educational forums, and more. SHAI NYC has evolved into a beautiful subdivision of the SHAI young families community, and has created a vibrant SHAI Persian community in the city.
This group of young Persian Jewish families from around the tri-state area has evolved into a supportive and educational community of its own. Through programming that is fun, dynamic, creative, and meaningful, shared values are being imparted and friendships created. And by teaching our children to give back to their community, SHAI Young Families and SHAI NYC are developing the next generation of leaders and a strong, vital community for our children and families.
