On February 4, 2025, SHAI sponsored our annual event with Israel Bonds at Temple Israel of Great Neck.  Co-hosted with TIGN and Great Neck Synagogue Men’s Club, the evening honored SHAI Vice President Michael Shahkoohi and his wife Orli, along with Cynthia and Jeffrey Wiesenfeld and Minoo and Abraham Shaoul. 

The evening was emceed by SHAI Vice President Shahram Delafraz. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman spoke about Israel bonds and his personal connection to two of the honorees. Among the 240 guests in attendance, Nassau County legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip also joined to show her support. Israel Bonds President and CEO Dani Naveh and Long Island Assistant Executive Director Arnie Schweitzer spoke about the importance and impact of purchasing Israel bonds. Attendees heard from guest speaker Dr. Asaf Romirowsky on the topic of The Gaza War: What You Might Not Know.  SHAI Co-President Erika Goldstein Kashi presented Michael and Orli Shahkoohi with the Lion of Judah award, highlighting their dedication to the community and the example they set for others with their focus on community service. The evening was a success thanks to the wonderful organizers, our impressive honorees, and everyone’s support, which resulted in the sale, or intent to purchase, of 75 individual bonds, for a total of $3,248,213 raised. SHAI is proud to partner with Israel Bonds in supporting the State of Israel.
